Penn Accounts

Starting Employment

Well done! You've got your degree, and you've accepted that big offer. How was the interview?

As a prospective employer, having a professional advisor at this stage could look quite impressive on your CV!

Penn accounts can help you further, in a practical way.

Your employer will ask you to sign an employment contract, setting out the agreement between you and your employer. Do you understand it?

As an employee, you have certain rights and obligations. It is important that you are aware of these from the start. Our sister law practice - Penn Legal can assist.

Employers are required to deduct income tax and national insurance contributions from your salary. The amount deducted will be based upon information that you supply to your tax office.

This information is called a "notice of coding". Our experience suggests that one third of all coding notices are wrong. Why not let us check it for you?

When you receive your salary, you will also receive a payslip. This should show all of the deductions made by your employer. Is it right? Have you checked it?

No problems at the moment?

Then why not take advantage of our special startup scheme for all new employees.
Specially designed for people like you!
Low cost, and surprisingly good value.
